‘Tell Me Lies’ Stars Grace Van Patten and Jackson White Spotted in N.Y.C.

Grace Van Patten and Jackson White’s relationship has stepped out of the small screen and into real life!

On Friday, Aug. 30, the two, who star in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies, were seen together in New York City. Van Patten, 27, wore a dark blue shirt, matching pants and orange Adidas trainers while carrying a red bag. White, 28, wore a dark T-shirt and jeans.

The couple has faced romance speculation since they began working together on Tell Me Lies, but it was not until they did a joint interview with ABC News that they confirmed they are a real-life couple. 

“It’s amazing. We had our first fight on camera,” Van Patten said in an interview ABC shared on TikTok on Aug. 28. “We got it out of the way, yeah.”

“It’s cool, we get to bring a lot of freedom and safety and we get to do whatever we want with each other because there’s so much trust there,” White said of how their off-screen romance affects their on-screen chemistry.

“It’s so much easier to be vulnerable and be open and be mean to each other on-camera because we’ve built such a safe, secure bubble,” Van Patten chimed in. 

White said the two “get to relax” at home after spending part of the day “screaming at each other at work.” Van Patten then jokingly compared filming to “couple’s therapy.”

Although this was the first time Van Patten and White acknowledged they were dating, the two have shared their feelings about one another before. In 2022, White said on an episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast that he had “such a crush” on Van Patten and hoped they dated. 

 “She is the f—ing coolest, most grounded, amazing person IRL that you’ll ever meet,” White said in 2022. “She was the fearless leader on our show. She’s 25 years old and runs a set like she’s been doing this for 30 years. She’s so consistent and good at this.”

Tell Me Lies was created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and centers on the toxic romance of college students Lucy Albright (Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (White). It is based on the novel by Carola Lovering. 

In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Van Patten said she felt “safe” with White, which was important due to the intimate nature of the show. She also said she appreciated the sex scenes because they were important to the plot.

“It really shows the power dynamic in sex in relationships,” Van Patten told PEOPLE. “And I found that so interesting. Every sex scene had a meaning, and a point, and was necessary to the characters and the plot. And I really admired it, because you don’t see that very often.”
