The Elon Musk-Donald Trump interview on X went on for about two hours
Billionaire entrepreneur and X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk interviewed Donald Trump on his social media network today. The event, which was scheduled to begin at 5:30 AM IST, was delayed by more than 40 minutes due to a DDOS attack, a type of cyberattack.
During the chat, which went on for over two hours, the two spoke in length about the assassination attempt on Trump last month. Their conversation also saw the Republican nominee attacking his Democratic rival Kamala Harris for the 2024 US presidential elections.
The interview, which was joined by more than 1.3 million users, was an opportunity for Trump to seize the limelight at a time when Kamala Harris has erased his lead in opinion polls, just weeks after she replaced Joe Biden in the race to the White House.

Donald Trump has slammed Joe Biden over the US economy. “The economy is a disaster with inflation… Four years ago, people were saving a lot of money. Today they’re using all their money and borrowing money just to live,” he has said in the interview with Musk.
He also attacked Kamala Harris and said, “If she wins, this country will go out of business.”
“We’re going to build an Iron Dome. Israel has it. We’re going to have the best Iron Dome in the world. We need it and we’re going to make it all in the United States. We’re going to have protection,” Donald Trump told Elon Musk.
“When I was president, Iran knew not to mess around. Iran was broke — they had no money for terror. Israel never would’ve been attacked (by Hamas),” Trump told Musk.

“We have a defective government… We have millions of people coming in a month and then Kamala [Harris] gets up and tries to pretend she’s gonna do something. She had three and a half years and they have another five months but they won’t do anything,” Donald Trump told Elon Musk on illegal immigrants.

Attacking US President Joe Biden, Donald Trump said he “failed miserably” in the presidential debate with him.
He also called Biden’s exit a “coup” by Democrats.
Biden had announced last month he was stepping aside from the White House race following a disastrous debate against Trump that highlighted concerns about his age and mental acuity.
Trump and Musk are now speaking about the illegal immigrant issues in the US. Trump has slammed the Biden administration for letting record number of illegal immigrants enter the US.
“They are coming in from everywhere,” Trump said.
“You can’t fake bravery under such circumstances — the courage is instinctual or it is not,” Musk told Trump as he spoke about his assassination attempt during an election rally in Butler.
“I wanted to get up and let them know I was ok — and they went wild,” Trump responded.

On being asked about the assassination attempt, Donald Trump tells Elon Musk that it was “not pleasant”. The two are now talking at length about Trump’s experience.
“I knew immediately that it was a bullet. I knew immediately that it was at the ear… For those people that don’t believe in God, I think we all have to start thinking about that,” Trump said, who was hit in the right ear.

DDoS attack means “Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attack”, a cybercrime in which the attacker floods a server with internet traffic to prevent users from accessing connected online services and sites.
